Thanks to all those who stopped by to read my blog this last week and for all the encouragement and support! (: You guys are FANTASTIC! I’m excited this blog is underway.
After what seems to be such a monumental moment for me in writing and completing my first blog with such passion…I wonder now what? What do I write next? How can I follow-up that. YIKES. haha pressure aside…
I love the challenge of blogging once per week.
I have just mere moments to start this week’s blog between getting done with the work day and meeting with a great friend I hadn’t seen in sometime, for when hubby arrives home we’ll be off to dinner at a friends…. BUT I must use this moment to pause and think of what to say to you my readers today…I guess I am stumped with thoughts of What you may want to hear or how can I help you grow? What do you want to know? What kind of information can I give to sustain you?
I think I’m even more nervous doing this second post and am hoping this gets easier. heehee As I am still deciphering where this blog is heading. The possibilities are endless of what I could write on next.
What have you written down and done to start implementing what you envision for your life? What steps are you taking? What have you done today to bring you closer to that vision?
I’ve got my lists of dreams and keep them before my eyes. One of my “to-dos” is to REstart my video blog, Living Life On Purpose (LLOP). To better help and serve you on your journey, I want to have a blog that you can both listen to and watch. It is just another way to be fed in the “on-the-go” lifestyle so many of us have.
I want to get started on my next goal. Why waste anymore time, right? Now it doesn’t have to look the same as mine or anyones for that matter. It is proven it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. So do this one thing you’re wanting for 21 days then start implementing another. I am working on new habits and am determined to create and accomplish new goals each week! (Or even work on refining the ones I’ve already started in greater depth and detail). Determine not to live just another ordinary week. Purpose within yourself to no longer live an average, undistinguished, humdrum life!!! Work on something today! Take one day at a time!
“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking down your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.” ~ Mark Twain
FOCUS:
(of a person or their eyes) Adapt to the prevailing level of light and become able to see clearly.
Focus gives us direction and without it we can not move in any specific course.
Readily adjust yourself to get to your main Focus. What you focus on will have your heart!
“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.” ~ Mark Twain
Remember Focus adapts itself to the prevailing LEVEL of light and makes you able to see more clearly.
Essentially what amount of focus you put into something you will get out of it.
Matthew 6:22-23 Msg
“Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a dank cellar. If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have!
Matthew 6:22-23 Amp.
The eye is the lamp of the body. So if your eye is sound, your entire body will be full of light.
But if your eye is unsound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the very light in you [your conscience] is darkened, how dense is that darkness!
What is your focus? What are you giving attention to? Darkness or light?
If our focus isn’t on truth or the light or on purpose we will be fooled into living empty, useless (darkened) lives. When we explore the vastness of Gods penetrating earth shattering truth, we become full of light. Your exploration will enlighten your knowledge of Truth and and fill you with a determined purpose.
I really like this quote:
“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”
-Ghandi
Makes me think of the children’s song
O be careful little eyes what you see
O be careful little eyes what you see
There’s a Father up above
And He’s looking down in love
So, be careful little eyes what you see
O be careful little ears what you hear
O be careful little ears what you hear
There’s a Father up above
And He’s looking down in love
So, be careful little ears what you hear
O be careful little hands what you do
O be careful little hands what you do
There’s a Father up above
And He’s looking down in love
So, be careful little hands what you do
O be careful little feet where you go
O be careful little feet where you go
There’s a Father up above
And He’s looking down in love
So, be careful little feet where you go
O be careful little mouth what you say
O be careful little mouth what you say
There’s a Father up above
And He’s looking down in love
So, be careful little mouth what you say
How much more does this pertain to our lives as young people or adults?
What is it you need to get focused on today? Cleaning your car? Organizing a closet? Writing? Reading a book? Working out? A relationship? Going to school? Getting a new job? Volunteering in church?
Having only one life to live in what way will you live it? What will you sacrifice for the greater life? What personal change are you willing to make?
In the words of Michael Jackson from the song “Man in the Mirror”,
“If you want to make the world a better place just look at yourself and make that change!”
Cheesy maybe but that song reverberates truth! What does it mean for you personally hearing those words?
What is unique about us that we were designed to reach the world with? YOU ARE DESIGNED AND WERE MADE TO LIVE A LIFE OF PURPOSE!! I am convinced of it! What if we all knew our purpose or did something each day to live that out? How fulfilled we’d be and what a different world we would live in. Why fill our life with menial or thinking less than wonderful of ourselves when life is so short, just a vapor? WHY NOT LIVE the life you’ve imagined? Should we expect any other way??? I’d dare say NOT!
FOCUS! That word has come to me all week. I’ve mediated that. What we focus on we become. Or even react to.
When we live a life of focus we not only understand our purpose but bring it out in others. Though I am NO expert in anything, the one thing I receive greatest joy in is helping and encouraging others. I’m not the best singer, writer, or the most beautiful. I am not even the most accomplished. Something I want to be the best at in my life is an encourager. An encourager with great focus who brings inspiration to those who need it and serving with everything I have. Each new day presents plenty of opportunities to be a blessing!
I’ll be honest I had to fight not getting discouraged to write this week. When we all start something new I think we all may go through self-defeating thoughts. Like am I capable? Can I really do this? If I would have listened to that and allowed it to affect me, I would have not even began to write.
David said, He encouraged himself in the Lord. We must do the same. If we can’t encourage ourselves, how can we encourage others? Make your goal this week to be your greatest self encourager. Talk to yourself. Uplift yourself! Treat yourself well. Speak positive things over yourself. Maybe that means hitting the gym. Maybe that means stepping out and doing something you love and have a desire to do but haven’t had the courage to do it.
Write a list of all the wonderful things about YOU, read them out loud every morning and night. Watch your focus begin to change. DO IT NOW. Do it TODAY!
So funny how I keep getting the word FOCUS many times this week and all the while everything I wanted to write was on something else. hahaha
I thought it funny as well… Lisa Bevere Tweeted from her new book, “Girls with Swords,” “God hones a shapeless life into one of sharp and focused purpose” A personal rebuke and so well said! LOL. I not only desire this for myself but for you who are reading this. I long for us all live our life with sharp and focused purpose. AMEN!!!
Our prevailing thoughts become our most lived thoughts. Determine to think well and you will live well. Determine to live each day with purpose and FOCUS!
Make today great!
Vision Driven
I am amazed again by how much this touched my life and actually makes me look at my own life to see what I need to be doing. I am in need of refining and breaking some habits. Great job Court!
